Signs and symptoms of inguinal hernia in adults that can hinder daily activities and should be consulted with a doctor:

• A bulge can be seen on either side of the pubic bone, which becomes more and more obvious with passing days when you are upright and especially more prominent and painful while you cough or put a strain on the inguinal region.
• In an inguinal hernia, you can feel a burning and aching sensation at the bulge.
• Inguinal hernia also causes pain and discomfort in the groin region, particularly when bending over, coughing, or lifting.
• A very heavy or a dragging sensation can be felt in inguinal hernia in the groin.
• Weakness or pressure can also be felt during an inguinal hernia.
• Sometimes, pain and swelling around the testicles can also occur when the protruding intestine extends into the scrotum.

Signs and Symptoms in Children

· Inguinal hernias are common in children and newborns due to a weakness in the abdominal wall that was present there at the time of birth.
· Sometimes, inguinal hernia gets visible only when the infant starts crying, coughing, or straining during his/her bowel movement.
· Kid might also be very irritable and also have less appetite than usual.
· In older children, an inguinal hernia also gets visible when the child starts crying, coughing, or straining during his/her bowel movements.

Troubling signs and symptoms of inguinal hernia

Following are the signs and symptoms of inguinal hernia:

• Nausea, Vomiting, and Diarrhea
• Fever
• A sudden pain that keeps on increasing
• Inguinal hernia bulge that turns red, purple, or dark should be surgically removed.
• Inguinal hernia also causes it very difficult to move your bowels or pass gas.

Some Inguinal hernias have no visible and apparent cause but can happen due to the following reasons:

Increased pressure in the abdomen can cause an inguinal hernia.
A previous weak spot in the abdominal wall can also cause an inguinal hernia and can make you get an inguinal hernia again.

Strenuous activity can also cause an inguinal hernia as it puts pressure on the abdominal cavity.
